Heartstrings

Son, today was the first day that you looked like you were sad to see me go.  I set you down at the daycare and grabbed your finger.  You gave me that half smile of yours.  I started to walk away and your eyes never left me.  So I turned around to give you some more love and you smiled again!  But I had to leave, had to get to work, and your face changed when you realized I wasn’t coming back.  You were strong, though.  You didn’t cry, just a look of disappointment that pulled my heartstrings……
